World Qualifier Information

The Morden Triathlon is proud to host the following qualifying races for the 2020 ITU World Multisport Championships (Almere, Netherlands):

  • Olympic (Standard) Cross Triathlon

  • Olympic (Standard) & Sprint distance Duathlon

  • Olympic (Standard) Aquabike

    • *Please note that although the Olympic Distance Aquabike at the Morden Triathlon will be the World Qualifier for Aquabike at the World Multisport Championships in 2020, the aquabike race there will be the Long Distance format, which specifies a swim between 1000m and 4000m and a bike between 100km and 200km*

A world championship spot in each age group (5 year age groups) for each of the above races will be awarded to the top finisher. Qualifying athletes must be present at the prize ceremony at 12:30pm to claim their spot. If the top athlete is not present or does not wish to attend the world competition, the spot "rolls down" to the next fastest athlete (athletes must finish in the Top 8 in their age group to be eligible for the roll-down spots). Qualifying athletes must be Canadian, and must be a full member in their provincial triathlon organization.

World qualifying races will be governed by ITU rules.

Athletes considering racing to qualify for a world spot should review the complete qualifications information and associated costs of attending the Worlds in 2020 prior to the race. Information can be found here.

For race information including race length and fees, please see our race information page

TO ENSURE THAT YOU ARE READY TO QUALIFY FOR THE SPOT AT WORLD'S, PLEASE CHECK THE FOLLOWING:

  1. You must have an annual membership in your provincial Triathlon association in order to be eligible for a world qualifying spot.

  2. You must register for the qualifying event at the Morden Triathlon: https://ccnbikes.com/#!/events/6126-morden-triathlon

  3. Carefully review all of the details regarding competing at the world championships, including costs, all found here: https://www.triathloncanada.com/age-group/. Athletes should be well informed regarding what will be expected of them as an athlete representing Canada, prior to filling out an Expression of Interest to qualify.

  4. You must fill out an Expression of Interest between now and 1 day prior to the qualifying event (Morden Triathlon). Triathlon Manitoba has decided to waive the $20 fee, but you must still register at this link: https://ccnbikes.com/#!/events/triathlon-canada-2020-age-group-world-championship-team-expression-interest. Just to clarify, the Expression of Interest cost will be $0, but you must register at this link to qualify.

  5. Show up, compete, and do your best! After completing the event at the Morden Triathlon, age group qualifiers will be announced at approximately 12:30pm following the event. Athletes MUST be present to qualify. If the qualifying athlete declines to claim their spot, a roll-down system will be in effect, where the next qualifying athlete will be offered the spot (you must be in the top 8 finishers to qualify for roll-down).

  6. More details can be found on the Triathlon Manitoba and Triathlon Canada websites.

Best of luck to you in your race preparations, and we look forward to welcoming you!
